🤤 Easter Show 2025: What’s Worth the Money (And What’s Not!)
Plus: we HAVE to taco ’bout this Filet-O-Fish recipe 👀🐟
Hello hello friends! Hope you’ve all had a great week, filled with even greater food. The weekend is here, and I’m sliding into your inbox (what’s new) with some tastyyy recipes that I think you’ll love.
I spent yesterday eating and drinking my way through the Sydney Royal Easter Show, which is exactly how you should spend a Friday I say. The mission was to try everything I possibly can, so I can tell you all what’s actually worth spending your precious dollars on. So Sydney-siders, make sure to check out our TikTok and Instagram pages before heading out for the event 🥰.
Ok but…do you know what’s crazy? It’s Easter next week! Yeah I know, this year is going by scarily fast 😱. But it also means that it’s time for hot cross buns and Easter eggs, which is totally my kind of breakfast!
Coming up on TastyOz — we have a banging frozen hot cross bun espresso martini recipe, which is the key to making family time run smoother I say. Plus, it’s ridiculously delish. We also have two desserts coming for you: Hot Cross Bun Cob Loaves and Easter Egg Cheesecake. Both 10/10, but I could be biased.
On that note, have a great time at the Easter Show and be sure to let us know what you guys tried for yourselves!

Add the crumbed fish pieces to the pan and shallow fry for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown on each side, and cooked through.
Place fish slices on a paper towel lined plate, and top each piece with a slice of cheese to melt.
To make the sauce, mix together the ingredients until combined.
To assemble the tacos, smear some sauce over each tortilla, then top with lettuce, the fried fish and extra sauce.
Serve and enjoy!
Pancakes 101
Your Ultimate Guide To Making Pancakes
Add Egg Whites SeparatelyAdding the whole egg at once can make your batter too dense. Instead, try adding the egg white separately from the egg yolk. If you want to be extra fancy, beat your egg whites until slightly stiff peaks form before folding them into the batter. This will make your pancakes extra light! | ![]() |
Buttermilk > Regular MilkRegular milk works, but buttermilk takes your pancakes to the next level! It not only adds a nice tangy flavour, but the acidity also activates the baking soda. Don't have buttermilk? Add a few tbsps of lemon juice to whole milk, then let it stand for 5 minutes. | ![]() |
Don’t Overmix The BatterOvermixing your batter will result in dense, flat pancakes. To avoid this, just fold the ingredients together with a rubber spatula (not a whisk!) and stop. Don't worry at all if there are a few lumps and tiny pockets of flour left over, they won’t be there after cooking. | ![]() |
Let Your Batter RestOnce all the ingredients are folded in, be patient and let your batter rest for about 15–30 minutes. This will give the flour, and other dry ingredients, time to absorb the wet ingredients. The gluten will also relax, and you'll end up with more tender pancakes. | ![]() |
Use A Cast Iron PanIf you have one, use a cast iron pan to cook the pancakes. You can totally use a basic non-stick pan, but a cast iron pan will not only give you more textured pancakes — it holds heat better, ensuring your pancakes end up evenly cooked. | ![]() |
Coat The Pan With ButterRegular cooking oils may get the job done just fine, but using butter to coat your pan does more than just stop sticking! Let the butter brown a little before you pour in the batter — this’ll give your pancakes more flavour and an even, golden finish. | ![]() |
Flip When Bubbles FormWait for bubbles to form on the surface before flipping. Also check that the edges have begun to set and turn golden brown — indicating the underside should be browning. If you want to add any toppings like chocolate chips or blueberries, sprinkle them on before flipping! | ![]() |
