🤤 Ditch the FOMO, DIY Your Triple Dipper!

PLUS: Froomes is joining me in the kitchen for a TikTok LIVE!

Well well well… If you’re reading this, it’s a pleasure to have you here.

There’s some very exciting things coming up, starting with our friend Miss Froomsey Froomes joining me in the kitchen for a TikTok LIVE. Details on how you can register below 👀. Tbh I’m actually a bit nervous because Froomsey is pretty good in the kitchen. I mean, she is the master of goulash after all… And me? I’ve never made goulash in my life.

I’ve also had our fave MAFS queen, Lauren, back into the kitchen to whip up some very boozy recipes. It’s a very good day when I get to drink cocktails at 10am – stay tuned.

Wishing you a week of good food, cold ice cream, and never-ending jars of Laoganma chilli oil (you can’t beat it).

DIY Chili’s Triple Dipper

Okay so, remember those unreal Chili's Triple Dipper mukbangs taking over your FYP? Yeah, we're still not over the fact we can't get it here. BUT, good news! This week, we're showing you how to whip up your own triple dipper, Aussie style. Get ready to ditch the FOMO and embrace some seriously delicious DIY action. Follow us on Instagram and TikTok to be FIRST to see our recreations, and keep an eye on next week’s newsletter for the full recipes.

Alright, we're starting strong with the classic mozzarella bricks (that cheese pull is epic, btw 👀). But instead of the usual Nashville hot sauce, we're getting all Aussie with a hot honey Vegemite glaze. Then, we've swapped out those Southwestern egg rolls for Vegemite and cheese spring rolls – the perfect brunch snack, especially dipped in avocado ranch. And finally, because why not, we're serving up chicken nugget parmi bites with marinara sauce. Seriously, this is next-level deliciousness.

Tasty Olympics With Froomes

Register for the event now (it’s free!) on our TikTok profile.

Where? @tastyoz on TikTok
When? Wednesday 12th February, from 5:15pm

Have You Tried Whipping Your Vegemite?

This is just another way you can enjoy your Vegemite spread…whether it’s on toast, with smashed avo, or mosaiced with more vegemite. Creamy, crunchy (when paired with sourdough) and classically Aussie. It’s better than iSnack 2.0 ever was (for legal reasons, that’s a joke!).

Serves 6

INGREDIENTS ✍️

  • 250g cream cheese

  • ¼ cup sour cream

  • 2 tbsp vegemite

  • 1 avocado

  • salt, to taste

  • pepper, to taste

  • toasted sourdough (to serve)

METHOD ✍️

  1. To a mixing bowl add the cream cheese, sour cream, and vegemite, then using a hand mixer, beat on high until light and fluffy.

  2. To another mixing bowl, add the avocado, salt and pepper, then mash well until it forms a smooth consistency.

  3. To a slice of toast add spoonfuls of whipped vegemite, and avocado alternating between the two to create a two tone effect.

  4. Serve and enjoy!

School Canteen Sausage Roll Sambo

Whether you were in class 1G, 2T or 5S, this is the canteen feed you need at any age. A hot sausage roll – sauced to high heaven – immaculately encased within wonderful white bread. Take it into the office or serve it up on-site, eat it wherever you take recess and have plenty of serviettes on-hand.

Total time: <15 minutes
Prep: 5 minutes
Cooking: 8 minutes

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS ✍️

  • Two large sausage rolls (bakery-bought or cooked from frozen)

  • Eight slices white bread

  • Butter, for pan-frying

  • MasterFoods Tomato sauce

  • And of course, a brown paper bag with your name and class on it

METHOD ✍️

  1. Slice off the crusts of the bread.

  2. Flatten the sausage rolls using a rolling pin, a flat plate or your hands.

  3. On a medium-hot pan, add a knob of butter and allow to melt.

  4. Add the flatt-ish sausage rolls and crisp up on both top and bottom. Remove from the pan when crispy and place on a kitchen towel to soak up excess grease.

  5. Add another knob of butter to the medium-hot pan.

  6. For four/half of the bread, add to the pan and fry on one side. Remove and let cool.

  7. To assemble, begin with one untoasted slice of bread, then place another slice of bread, fried side up.

  8. Squeeze a hearty amount of tomato sauce on the toasted side of the bread stack, then place down the sausage roll. Give it another squeeze of sauce.

  9. Place a toasted bread slice on top, fried side down, so that it’s atop the sauce and roll. Place one final untoasted bread slice on top.
