🤤 Boost + Booze = Weekend Sorted
Plus: Lauren from MAFS drops by the Tasty kitchen!

Hey hey hey, if it isn’t Friday! This week I’ve been mostly in the office editing, as our fridge is broken. And can you imagine trying to cook with no fridge?! Yeah, it doesn’t quite work. Butter doesn’t love the Aussie heat.
Ramadan is coming up and we’ve been busy behind the scenes whipping up some delicious recipes with the lovely Hameda (who you may know from BuzzFeed)! The best part? Hameda will be sharing two of her favourite time-saving hacks, so you can spend less time cooking and more time eating.
This weekend I’ve got a pile of black bananas to use, so of course, I’ll be making banana bread. Which for me, actually means four loaves.
Hope your weekends are filled with plenty of banana bread. Or a cheeky Boost Juice cocktail… or three.

Pasta 101
Your Ultimate Guide To Cooking Pasta
Get Water To Rolling BoilCook your pasta in a large pot, making sure your water is at a rolling boil before adding. Water at this temperature helps "set” the outside of the pasta and prevent it from sticking as well as losing its shape. | ![]() |
Add Salt, Not OilGenerously season your water with kosher salt. Don’t be skimpy — most of it will go right down the drain and it's the only time you can season the pasta itself! Don't add oil to your pasta water, it could prevent your sauce from properly coating the pasta. | ![]() |
Pick The Right ShapeIf using a heavy sauce like bolognese or ragù, stick to tubular pasta shapes like penne. For more delicate sauces like pesto, thin, long pastas like spaghetti are better suited. If using a ton of sauce, go with shapes with lots of nooks and crannies to trap the sauce. | ![]() |
Stir For The First MinuteStarches start to release during the first minute of boiling, meaning it's the time when the pasta is most prone to sticking together. To prevent this, stir your pasta for the first minute, and after that you can ease up and stir it every 30 seconds or so. | ![]() |
Don’t Trust The TimerUse package instructions as a guideline, but taste as you go. Pasta often cooks faster than stated, so start checking three minutes early. Remove a piece, let it cool, and taste — it should be al dente, tender but with a bite. If adding to a hot pasta sauce, drain a little earlier. | ![]() |
